Pittsburgh to Washington D.C. on a Brompton

Our very own Brompton rep John McConaghay has begun pedaling his way from here in Pittsburgh to Washington D.C for the Brompton US Championships where Brompton riders will compete to win a spot in the  2014 Brompton World Championships occurring later this month, July 26th-27th in London, England.

The US championships occur this weekend with the opening party happening this Friday evening, July 11th.  John has given himself only 3 days to complete the roughly 335 mile trek.  I rode him out of town this morning before turning back at Dravo Cemetery Camp ground and heading back to work the shop. John's trip is a great example of what these little wheeled wonders are capable of.  John is riding completely unsupported and is camping the entire trip.  I was amazed at how much gear he was able to pack onto his H type 2 speed Superlight ( in brompton speak this means this particular brompton has an H type handlebar with 2 speeds and a titanium fork and rear swing arm).  Let's all wish him good luck on his journey.

John is feeling strong after reaching Dravo Cemetery campground.  25 miles down and roughly 300 to go.  This is where I turned around

Good Luck John!
